SBIR/STTR
Unlike the TV show, “Shark Tank”, the following funding opportunities are non-debt and non-diluted meaning that no one/entity will take a percentage of your company for winning a SBIR/STTR grant award. Furthermore, the resulting intellectual property (e.g., copyright, patent) is owned by your small business.
SBIR ($150 K – $1.5 M) The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) federal grant program encourages United States (U.S.) small businesses, including minority businesses, to propose very early innovative concepts that have potential for commercialization.
- STTR ($150 K – $1.5 M) The Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) requires the small business to collaborate with a research institution in Phase I and Phase II. The STTR’s most important role is to bridge or tech-transfer innovations from the research institution to the small company that will commercialize the resulting innovation.
